*btw, typo: tonkatsu not tongkatsu!
With all the tonkatsu places opening in Manila, a little cute store has opened near my home! Yey! They serve tonkatsu and other related dishes. As this was my first time in Tori Box, I ordered their standard tonkatsu which comes with a bowl of good japanese rice and a side salad of shredded cabbage with sesame dressing.
While Yabu still is the best for me (in terms of meat quality, refillable rice AND salad), Tori Box tasted pretty good. While I would have preferred a bit more cabbage, I think for the price I paid (half of Yabu), it was quite affordable.
Aside from the decent food, the place is really cute. Loved the edison lights, burlap/hemp upholstered chair, finished cement floors and all the small knicknacks around the place. Yes, I even liked the fake plant in a paper bag (which I saw at Landmark). I haven’t been back yet, but in a few weeks, I’ll go back to see how they have progressed. I saw La Creperie open beside it, and also heard that down the road they will open a Spanish resto. yey!!!
